Proactive legislative support
Pensions simplification legislation brought about some of the most far-reaching changes to UK pensions in recent times. These changes were to be introduced in April 2006, known as 'A-Day'. Prior to A-Day, many people working in Local Government Pension Schemes (LGPS) were concerned about the fact that the final details of the scheme regulations had not been announced, therefore leaving very little time for systems to be subsequently updated.
As it was clear from late 2005 that the final regulations would not be ready in time, heywood took a proactive approach to ensuring that local authorities would have their systems updated and fully compliant in time.
Disaster recovery
Unforeseen circumstances can cause serious interruption to the pensions administration function and in particular to pensioner payroll processing where the timely payment of pensions is paramount. heywood's Disaster Recovery service ensures that clients have remote access to a copy of their system and data in a timely fashion.
In February 2008, one of heywood's FTSE100 clients received first hand experience of the value of having a disaster recovery solution from heywood, whose IT, application and pensions expertise came to the rescue, ensuring 13,000 pensioners received their monthly pension on the correct day.
Electronic document management
The introduction of imaging technology has had significant impact for changes to the ITV profile of member schemes. Over the period since its introduction ITV has taken over various companies and has used heywood's Image component to enable these schemes to go live with no accompanying paper files and without increasing staff numbers or utilising valuable office space.
