Carbon neutral since 2021

We take our environmental responsibility seriously. That's why we’ve been working tirelessly to reduce our carbon footprint. To achieve this, we’ve implemented a range of sustainability measures -  reducing energy consumption in our operations, increasing our use of renewable energy sources, and investing in carbon offset projects.

Our efforts have paid off. We’re proud to say that we’ve successfully neutralised our remaining carbon emissions. As a result, Heywood has been carbon neutral since 2021. It really does go to show that individual efforts make a difference.

Our environmental commitments

  • We’re purchasing 100% renewable energy
From 2024 onwards, we’re committed to purchasing 100% renewable energy. Renewable source energy means purchasing from suppliers who generate electricity from non-carbon sources, and we offset our carbon each year.
  • We’re maintaining our ISO certification
We’re certified to ISO 14001: 2015. We have an externally audited Environmental Management System which comprises policies, processes, plans, practices, and records that define how we can minimise our impact on the environment.
  • We’re using sustainable data centres
Our data centres are managed in a sustainable way, and are supplied with 100% renewable energy. They are ISO 14001 accredited and have achieved a Power Usage Efficiency (PUE) of 1.1, making them some of the greenest facilities in Europe.
  • We’re embracing hybrid working
We’ve embraced a hybrid working model and will continue to use technology where possible to reduce carbon emissions created by business travel and commuting. It’s one more step towards a greener future.
  • We’re promoting electric vehicles
Our electric car scheme helps employees make the switch to eco-friendly transport. It promotes cleaner energy and helps employees through the saving of between 30-60% on the monthly cost of a brand-new electric car lease.
  • We’re supporting ‘Cycle to Work’
Our Cycle to Work Scheme is an eco-friendly benefit for our employees and keeps our carbon footprint low. Plus, it’s a great way to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle. Keeping our people and our planet healthy.

Prioritising sustainability

When it comes to sustainability, there are no half-measures. We’re fully committed to protecting and improving the quality of our working and local environments.

Heywood works proactively with our employees, customers and suppliers. Our aim? To create a safer, cleaner, healthier environment for all. One that meets present and future legislative needs. And one that meets the needs of the world we live in.
